What if you are unsure about your tattoo idea?
You've
decided to get a tattoo? Hell yeah! But you are not sure if your idea is good,
will work, will look pretty, etc.? That is totally fine and normal! Here's some
tips for you.
- Consult a tattoo artist: I can't stress this enough but most of us are quite open to you asking questions about your tattoo. Even if you don't have an appointment yet. At least, I am. Ask a thousand questions and I will try to guide you in your decision making. Just be sure to respect the preferred communication method of every artist (e-mail, dm, …).
- Placement is important: not everything looks great on every part of the body. Especially when you are thinking about getting a bigger tattoo. Flow is everything.
- Look for inspiration: go online and search and collect the tattoos that you like. Pinterest is a great source. However, be aware that not everything you see online is therefore 'possible'. This brings me to my next point ->
- Keep an open mind: it could be that your idea simply doesn't work as a tattoo, will be too small, is too much in one tattoo, … be flexible and hold your options open. Sometimes it's better to not cram too much ideas in one tattoo. Keep it simple, that will be timeless.
- Think about your future: don't let yourself be caught by tattoo trends. Will you still like this in 5 years' time? Is this fitting for you as a person? Especially for visible tattoos, you never know what you will be doing in your life in a couple of years.
